Telehealth

Online psychiatry for patients anywhere in California

Secure video appointments with a double board-certified adult and child psychiatrist — the same clinical standard as an in-person visit, without the commute. Available to any patient physically located in California.

Why It Works

Telepsychiatry is not a compromise

For diagnostic evaluation and medication management — the core of psychiatric practice — a well-run video appointment is clinically equivalent to sitting in an office. What changes is access, not quality.

01

No drive, no waiting room

A 50-minute appointment stays a 50-minute appointment instead of consuming half a workday. For families juggling school pickup along the 5 corridor, that difference determines whether treatment is sustainable.

02

Continuity when life moves

College students who leave for school, professionals who travel, families who relocate within California — care continues uninterrupted rather than restarting with a new psychiatrist and a new history.

03

Genuine privacy

No shared waiting room, no chance of running into someone you know. For patients in tight-knit communities like Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, or La Jolla, that discretion is often the deciding factor.

How It Works

What a telehealth appointment involves

Confirm you’re in California

California licensure requires that you are physically located in the state at the time of your appointment. This is a legal requirement, not a preference — it is confirmed at each visit.

Receive a secure link

You’ll get a link to a HIPAA-compliant video platform before your appointment. No software purchase required; a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera is enough.

Find a private space

A room with a door and reliable internet. Headphones help. For appointments involving a child, a parent joins for part or all of the visit depending on age and clinical need.

Prescriptions sent electronically

When medication is part of the plan, prescriptions are transmitted directly to your preferred pharmacy. Certain controlled substances carry additional federal requirements, discussed openly during your evaluation.

When In-Person Is Better

Honest limits of virtual care

Telehealth suits most, but not all, situations. An initial evaluation of a young child often benefits from being in the room — observing how a six-year-old plays, moves, and interacts carries diagnostic information a screen flattens. Patients who need physical examination, vital-sign monitoring for certain medications, or a higher level of care are better served in person or through a referral.

Dr. Hariri will tell you directly which format fits your situation, and many patients use a mix: an in-person evaluation in North County followed by virtual follow-ups.

Available throughout California

Because Dr. Hariri is licensed in California, telehealth patients may be located anywhere in the state — San Diego County, Orange County, Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Santa Barbara, the Central Valley, Sacramento, or the Bay Area.
